Artist Statement

Victoria paints realistic elements of nature then adds colour, textures and contrasting collage. Seeking to channel the unconscious as a means to unlock the power of using positive and healing images.  Victoria enjoys the challenge of surrealism bridging together reality and the imagination. Victoria seeks to overcome the contradictions of the conscious and unconscious minds.

 “I enjoy adding intrigue to my art, subconsciously conveying a message to the viewer using Carl Jung’s Representational Theory of Symbolism. Jung's theory is commonly used in dream analysis. However, I have found a way of using that symbolism to convey a positive and healing unconscious message to the viewer”.

Victoria Velozo has completed two Degrees; Bachelor of Creative Arts. And a Bachelor of Science, Psychology. She is employed as Art Therapist for a large disability service and has also been trained by some of Australia’s most influential artists.
